TOUR ITINERARY
An Enchanting Ride
Day 1: Chandigarh - Shimla
At the Chandigarh airport, adventure explorer tour coordinator will assist you and you’ll start your journey to Shimla by MUV. It is approximately four hour drive. Upon arrival, you’ll check into a hotel and arrangements for inner line permits will be arranged so that you can trek to upper Kinnaur and the Spiti Valley.
The evening is free to explore Shimla, the queen of hills, to roam around the Mall Road, visiting the Ridge, Scandal point, Christ Church etc. An overnight stay in the hotel is arranged.
Day 2: Shimla (Sightseeing)
It’s a journey of 170km that would take 8-9 hours. Post breakfast, we’ll start our journey to a beautiful country side village of Shimla- Sarahan. We will follow the Indo-Tibetan Border Road (National Highway No. 22) till Jeori Village and from there we will go uphill to Sarahan.
After having our lunch at Rampur, we will reach sarahan in the evening. Here, you can visit centuries old temple of goddess Bhimakali which is an extra ordinary example of ancient architecture. Sarahan also leads us to Kinnaur valley. We’ll check into a hotel for the night.
Day 3: Shimla - Narkanda - Sarahan
It’s a journey of 170km that would take 8-9 hours. Post breakfast, we’ll start our journey to a beautiful country side village of Shimla- Sarahan. We will follow the Indo-Tibetan Border Road (National Highway No. 22) till Jeori Village and from there we will go uphill to Sarahan.
After having our lunch at Rampur, we will reach sarahan in the evening. Here, you can visit centuries old temple of goddess Bhimakali which is an extra ordinary example of ancient architecture. Sarahan also leads us to Kinnaur valley. We’ll check into a hotel for the night.
Day 4: Sarahan - Sangla
Post breakfast, and after visiting Bhimakali temple where human sacrifices were used to be done centuries ago, we will start our 87 km trek to Sangla, which will take about 4 hours. We’ll move from Sarahan to Jeori, walking along the Sutlej River, crossing the Indo-Tibetian border road, will enter the Kinnaur Valley and a turn will take us to beautiful Baspa Valley.
By late afternoon we will reach sangla village via 18 km narrow winding road with exciting gorges and cliffs of Baspa River. It is also known as Baspa Sangla valley owing to Baspa River flowing through the valley. Rest of the day is for relaxation and then we will call it a night.
Day 5: Sangla - Chitkul - Kalpa
Post breakfast, we will start our day to Chitkul, a quaint village in the Baspa valley and last one on Indo-Tibet border. You can see the awe inspiring view of snowy peaks of Kinnaur from far. After seeing beautiful sights of Chitkul at a leisurely pace we’ll return to Sangla for lunch.
From here, you’ll get to see the amazing view of Mt. Kinner Kailash which turns to gold and crimson when morning sun rays touches it. An overnight hotel stay is arranged in Kalpa.
Day 6: Kalpa - Nako - Tabo
Post breakfast we will continue our journey through higher Himalayan valleys of 85 kms in about 4-5 hours. First we’ll cross a major eater cross on road – “Maling Nala” near Chango, Sumdo and Hoorling villages.
Today we’ll enter the Spiti valley, cold desert of Himalayas- as during heavy snow it is literally unreachable. Again, at Sumdo our inner line permits will be checked and we will continue with our journey to Tabo, and after a small detour from Hoorling we will reach Gue village.
At Gue, we can see a 600 year old mummy of a Buddhist monk, which was discovered during the road construction. We will continue our journey to Tabo in the beautiful setting of bright blue sky, radiant even after dark and a sense of spirituality. An overnight stay is arranged at a guest house in Tabo.
Day 7: Tabo – Dhankar
After breakfast we’ll be visiting one of the oldest Tabo Monastery – a UNESCO heritage site and continue our journey to Dhankar village. Dhankar village, known for ruins of Dhankar monastery, offers an exhilarating view of Himalayan Mountains and Pin valley below. We will be visiting the famous Dhankar Lake too, before calling it a night.
Day 8: Dhankar - Mudh
Post breakfast, we will start our journey to Mud village, the last village of pin valley and we head straight to a small glacier. Along with many glaciers, Pin valley is the main source of water for the valley. Mud valley is also a base camp for the treks and offer some lovely home stays. It’s a 25 kilometer journey of 3-4 hours.
You can relax and enjoy the scenic beauty of this little village and we’ll stay the night at a home stay in the village.
Day 9: Mudh - Kaza - Langza
after we will have our breakfast, we will start the journey to Kaza, head quarters of the Spiti region, a beautiful and peaceful village. We will have lunch here and then take a walk around. After sometime we will continue our journey to Langza village, a remote village whose population depends on mud craft.
You can also see prehistoric marine fossils in Langza as long ago this region was completely submerged in the water. That’s why it is also referred as ‘Fossil village’. Also, you’ll see the oldest statue of Lord Buddha which is almost 100 years old. Langza is a small village with a population of mere 160 people and 30 homes. They prefer farming of potatoes and green peas during summer and depend on a glacier for their water needs. You’ll get to interact with these simple individuals during our home stay at the Langza village. since old times is mud craft.
This whole region was once under water, so in Langza, you can scout around for prehistoric marine fossils. It’s also known as the ‘Fossil Village’ . you will also see the oldest Lord Buddha statue about 1000 yr old. The water that reaches Langza comes from a Glacier about 14 km away. There are only 30 homes, with a population of 160 people. During summer the village people cultivate potatoes and green peas in the farms.

Day 10: Langza - Komic - Hikkim - Kaza
Post breakfast we’ll start our journey of 45 kilometers to explore these villages. Komic is not only the village that is highest in Asia but also considered as highest village in the world with motor able road. Angyud monastery is one of the two monasteries left in Sipti Valley of Sakya sect and is situated in Komic.
Hikkim village is famous for having the highest post office and polling station in the world. After that we’ll come back to Kaza via a thrilling drive through a narrow and high road and it offers beautiful sight of mountains in Spiti valley. We will staying in a guest house in Kaza for the night.
Day 11: Kaza - Kye - Kibber
After a relaxing breakfast, we will visit Kye Gompa, near Kaza, founded by Dromton (Brom-Ston, 1008-1064 C.E) disciple of renowned teacher of 11th century Atisha Dipankar. It’s place full of nature’s delights and a clear sky where in night you can watch the stars and also the Milky Way clearly. We will be staying at a guest house in Kaza for the night.
Day 12: Kaza - Chandertal
Post breakfast we will drive to higher himalayas, cross the Kunzum Pass (4,551 meters/15,000 feet) and reach second high Altitude Lake on the tour. You’ll be seeing some amazing view of glacier melts on the way. On the other side of Kunzum Pass, and 2 kilometers before Batal, a rough road will take us to Chandratal Lake or ‘the lake of moon’.
The camp will be set up 1-2 kilometers in an open grassland before Chandratal Lake. The tents would accommodate 2 people at a time and you can take a walk around to soak up the beauty at display here. We’ll be calling it a night after dinner.
Day 13: Chandratal - Rohtang - Manali
We’ll be starting early to begin the journey of 8-9 hours with few stops and lunch break. We will be going through the high mountain pass of eastern Himalayan range, the Rohtang pass which is at a altitude of 3,978m. We will reach Manali in the evening. Here, you can have a relaxed evening and retire for the night in a hotel in Old manali.
Day 14: Manali (Sightseeing)
The day is reserved for rejuvenation and you can take strolls around old Manali, shopping in the markets and relaxing. An overnight stay is arranged at a hotel in old Manali.
Day 15: Departure from Manali
Today, have a hearty breakfast and leave Manali with sweet, unforgettable memories.
